5 Reasons You'll Love an In-Home Newborn Session

in-home newborn session, lifestyle newborn session, newborn photography, newborns

I'm a total sucker for all three types of newborn photography — Fresh 48, in-home lifestyle, in-studio posed — but there's a special place in my heart for in-home lifestyle sessions. Why? Let me break it down, and who knows? You might decide you'll choose an in-home session, too.

1. The Hassle Factor

Even if you don't have any other children besides the new baby you've just brought home, getting everyone ready and out the door on time for an in-studio newborn session can be a huge hassle. That's why staying home makes sense: all you have to do is tidy up the house, get dressed, and wait for me to arrive.

2. Tame Toddlers

If there are toddler siblings in the household, as well as the new baby, you might be worried about how they'll behave and how they'll pose in the studio. At home, they're more comfortable, and the lifestyle prompts (rather than studio posing) are so much more relaxed and easier to achieve.

3. Sentimental Value

There's also something so sentimental and sweet about photographing your brand-new baby in their first home, especially if we'll be doing part of the session in the nursery you've created just for them.

4. Time

Did you know an in-studio posed newborn session can last up to three hours? For some new parents, that's just too much time to invest in a session, especially when you consider the time you'll spend driving to and from the studio. An in-home session, though, is usually complete in less than two hours, and there's no drive time involved.

5. The Gallery Will Melt Your Heart

Rather than explain how sweet the galleries from in-home lifestyle newborn sessions can be, I'll just show you. Here's a complete gallery from an in-home session with a baby boy, and here's one featuring a baby girl... and here are some of my favorite photos from in-home sessions.
