If you work with the public at all, you're bound to collect a few funny (or embarrassing) stories, right? And being a photographer is no exception: I've worked with the public, so over the years, a few crazy funny things have happened. Here are a few of my favorites.
The time I fell in the mud during an engagement session
This has to be the most embarrassing thing that's happened to me during a session. I was walking my clients along the Belle River at Columbus County Park, when Tim said, "Hey, it's a little slippery right there, you want some help?" and just as I was saying, "Nah, I got it!" ... I slipped and fell on my butt in the mud.
Every time I've ever laid on the ground to get The Shot
It happens WAY more than I'd like to admit: to get the exact perfect shot, I'll lay on the ground. It's embarrassing, but effective! But mostly embarrassing.
Super-sweet, not embarrassing!
This story is super-sweet, not embarrassing! I didn't know one of my senior clients worked a the local pizza place, until I found this message inside my order when I went to pick up. Like... how nice was this?!
The Dad Photo Session Outfit!
Not really embarrassing, but funny! These clients both showed up with their families for Christmas tree farm mini sessions wearing the perfect Dad Photo Session Outfit, holiday photos edition. They look great, though, don't they? I love that they're even standing the same way, and they'd never met before one family was leaving and the other was arriving. Kismet!
Perfect timing!
I was so, so excited to open my first ever bricks-and-mortar studio! My timing couldn't have been worse, though — I leased the perfect space only a couple of weeks before the world shut down in March 2020. It was only supposed to be for two weeks, right? I'm so grateful to all the clients who stuck with me once everything opened back up... I miss the old space!
